What are cell-groups?

Cells are basic building blocks of all life forms: active, vibrant and growing. The cell-group is also the basic building block of the church. This is where the life of the church really takes place.

In cell-groups, participants get to know one another better, learn more about God together and from one another (through Bible discussion), have the opportunity to rejoice with and care for one another (through sharing our joys and difficulties), have the opportunity to test their giftings (through taking on small responsibilities in the group). In this process of constant receiving and giving they grow and get progressively equipped to serve God in greater ways.

What is the primary purpose of the cell-group?

The primary purpose of the cell group, then, is to help one another to keep on growing in the Lord and to progressively equip group members to serve. During the cell-group meeting there will be a brief time of praise and worship, followed by sharing of how Gods Word apply to our lives, prayer for one another and fellowship over light refreshment. God's Spirit is able to do powerful work during such times. (1 Cor 14:26)

But cell-group life is more than just the cell-group meeting. Outside the cell-group meeting, there will be times for celebration and fun and times to support one another in need. Beyond these, there will be occasions when other church members or relatives and friends also need support. Through all these, group members get to grow and be equipped.

Biblical basis for Cell-Groups

Jesus used the small group strategy in His ministry: Mark 3:14-15

Despite having the whole world to save, Jesus spent most of His ministry in private with the 12 disciples.

The disciples were ordinary people, most unlikely candidates to be His disciples. Nonetheless He was more concerned with their availability than ability.

The early Church met in small groups. The small group is the building block of the New Testament churches.

Acts 2:46-47
Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

Acts 5:42
Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Christ.

Romans 16:3,5
Greet Priscilla and Aquila. Greet also the church that meets at their house..

Our cell-group meetings are held every 2nd and 4th Friday of each month at 8.00pm. We meet for a brief time of worship together in the seminar at level 3 before going to our respective cell-groups.

We look forward to your presence, fellowship and encouragement at the next Cell-Group meeting.
